Lux Points Alerts: Intro
Why Award Alerts Are So Important
- One of the most important parts of award travel is finding the award availability which is something we have studied for years since after you master the basics - finding the actual award space for your flight is super important.
- Having access to instant alerts is a great reason to go for our Gold Level since awards can be gone within a few hours at times so speed is important.
- Award availability is constantly changing with airlines having no seats available for a while then do an “Award Dump” releasing a ton of seats into the system to be bookable via points - we stay on top of this to provide you the best deals.
The best way to use our alerts is the following way. There are a few ways you can use our alerts for great success that I will go over.
- First, if you have a destination in mind that you want to go on & have some rough or exact dates you want to travel on, wait for one of our alerts to come up when the airline releases a ton of award availability, simply look at your email, find your preferred dates from our award flight email of available dates, then follow the step by step instructions or videos to secure your bookings.
- For example, recently if you want to go to the Maldives, I would recommend first to think when roughly you’d want to go such as March for Spring Break, then wait for a “Qatar or Emirates or Etihad” Award alert that we send to this destination then select from the available dates & book your roundtrip travel in Q Suites or other great business classes that we send.
- Even if your alert is not all the way to your final destination you can always book together or separately the connection from DOH or DXB or AUH to the Maldives as well.
- Another way you can use our alerts is if you are flexible or unsure of when or where you want to travel you can use our alerts for inspiration & scroll to find the dates & a destination you choose from our award alerts to help you travel to a far flung destination in business or 1st class.

Lux Points Tip
Note you can book the “Throne Seat” for free within 23 hours of departure during online check in.
of the business class seats are fairly similar across the Swiss Business Class fleet.
Note that if you want to fly in Swiss 1st class you can typically upgrade at the check in desk at the airport & from my experience they charge around $1,500 - $2,000 for a 1 way upgrade.
Also note if a flight is not available from your home airport you can always take a “Positioning Flight” which is a seperate flight you book to catch the award flight from the airport the award flight is available from.
